AI disclosure

Glimmer was coded with the help of AI. Here is what that means, and what it does not.

It will keep getting updates

Being built with AI does not mean the app is a one-off that stops after you buy it. I intend to fully maintain Glimmer for as long as I can and for as long as people find it useful.

I am not starting from zero

I am a cybersecurity student and I have programming knowledge of my own. But I could not have built an app of this size alone as a solo developer. AI is the help that made it possible.

It has been tested rigorously

Why I made it

I am a student, and I know how hard and time-consuming editing can be. Big streamers have editors who cut their videos and shorts. Smaller streamers usually have to do it all alone, or don't post at all. I want smaller streamers to be able to post just as much as the big ones, with a chance at the YouTube and Shorts algorithm. Glimmer is my way of making that process simpler and easier for everyone.

The art is human-made

The look of Glimmer was designed by Momonga: the icons, the buttons, much of the background, and all of the Glimmer and character art. No generative AI was used to make any picture. We did our best to keep even the interface styling hand-made.

It mattered to me to support the drawing community, so there is a real artist behind Glimmer, and this is my way of supporting him.

The highlight finder uses no generative AI

The AI helped write the code. It is not inside the app. Glimmer picks clips by measuring your stream (speech, loudness, pitch and on-screen death, boss and victory screens). It uses no generative AI and no LLM. The only model it runs is a small Whisper speech-to-text program on your PC that types out what you say; it does not choose clips. More in how it works.

Your data stays on your PC

Your videos, clips and settings never leave your PC. Nothing is sent anywhere for the editing itself. The settings you change (like the pitch size) are saved only on your computer and you can revert them at any time.

The only thing that talks to a server is the license check:

What it sends is only what the license needs: an anonymous code for your PC and a code for the video's size and length. Never the video itself.

Who is responsible

I am. Write to me at [email protected] for support or anything else. I do my best to read every email and to fix and implement what people find.

Payment and license safety

The app was tested by many people, also outside my circle of friends. If you run into any problem, don't hesitate to email me and we will talk it out. If you are not happy with the product and there is a good reason, I will most likely give you your money back. That depends on the situation, so write to me.
